Monitoring and reporting illegal fishing

Commercial and recreational fishers are expected to be aware of the laws in place that protect and promote the safe use of our waterways and the sustainability of our fisheries resources.

The Queensland Boating and Fisheries Patrol (QBFP) enforces these laws through surveillance and inspections, as well as undertaking related education with industry and community groups.

You can report suspected illegal fishing directly to QBFP via the Fishwatch hotline:

  • call the 24-hour Fishwatch hotline on 1800 017 116 (toll free within Queensland)

  • submit a form.

You can also contact your local QBFP office.
